Duck Soup is the official newsletter of the Ardsley Curling Club.

The newsletter appeared with the name Duck Soup for the first time on December 27, 1943. Stu Peabody (former secretary 1935-38) is responsible for the name.

Why is our newsletter called Duck Soup?

From 1932 to 1967, Ardsley curled at St. Andrews. All stones were delivered standing in the hack and swinging your arm back while holding the stone. The stone was supposed to land flat on the ice and continue on to its mark. But Ardsley lads only curled there once a week and often landed the stone unevenly -- so the stone waddled down the ice like a duck. Thus St. Andrews mockingly gave us our unique mascot, the Ardsley DUCK.
